Monkey See, Monkey Do!

This is a sweet synopsis of a favorite “economical” Sauvignon from Marlborough, NZ (of course).  My lovely friends Angela and Whit reviewed it! (Which is clear simply by the statement: “Kiwi’s eight-year dominance of the America’s Cup,” which I almost needed to Wiki…)  Awesome review follows–

Monkey Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2009
Marlborough, New Zealand

Monkey Bay’s Sauvignon Blanc is a fresh summer white wine that is highly drinkable. We’re grateful for the wine’s friendly price point since it’s easy to go through more than one bottle in the course of a dinner. This white has a clear, pale yellow color and smells distinctively of grapefruit and fresh cut grass. These tones follow through to the taste. The wine begins with a light acidity and ends with a sweet aftertaste.

Monkey Bay sources its grapes for the sauvignon blanc from the Marlborough region of New Zealand. After a crisp, cold glass (or three…) one’s mind wanders to the Kiwi’s eight-year dominance of the America’s Cup. I can see tanned, attractive boat crews with wind-mussed hair drinking this wine aboard the famed sailing vessel Black Magic.

Enjoy this wine with light foods, especially fish. A perfect house warming gift or contribution to a summer dinner party.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
